YMI Jeans Holiday Fashion Event with BFVA
On November 27th I was at YMI Jeans Holiday Fashion Event with the Beauty and Fashion Vloggers Alliance for behind the scenes at the company. We got to see their 2013 launches and even got to pick our own jeans, which I have been loving! I wanted to show you guys all of what we saw, it was very exciting! Although I focus in beauty, I’ve been wanting to try more fashion videos and posts, so I was thrilled to go.
About YMI
YMI Jeans was founded in 2000 by 3 fashion entrepreneurs. They focus on juniors jeans and have expanded into outerwear, girls, shoes, and intimates. You can find them at department stores mostly! Their brand name is a play on words, for “Why am I?” – Their products are priced around $30-$60. They pride themselves on having great prices for great quality, because high end denim isn’t necessarily a great market! (And I have to agree). They emphasized how the fit of their jeans are compared to other brands. Have you found that some jeans (looking at you, Forever 21) don’t have correct proportions to your body? YMI strives to achieve the best fit with their fit models (which brands hire to help perfect the fit of their designs). Anyway, enough rambling…onto the jeans!
The “Exotic Bazaar” theme is all about camo and animal print. Imagine edgy styles that are reminiscent of a safari look! The camouflage isn’t only green, there are blue tones too! There are cheetah/leopard and zebra prints, both as a print on shorts and added as panels to denim. I love the camouflage and the top 2 shorts the most!
The “Tropical Paradise” theme is very reminiscent of the 80’s with a rainbow of colors and neons. The neon denim is also very 80’s to me. I prefer neutral colors, so this one isn’t for me necessarily, but I still think it looks cool. The pants on the bottom are their Hyperstretch jeggings, which are very comfortable and stretchy. I almost got a pair of these at our “shopping spree,” but I found that the waistband wasn’t stretchy, which I prefer in leggings and jeggings!
The “Sweet Floral” theme is one of my favorites! It includes adorable faded pastels and floral patterns on jeans and shorts. I think the top shorts with paneled floral pockets is a neat idea as well. I love pastel and floral prints, so overall I think they did a great job with this one.
The last 2 themes, I didn’t get great photos of since I was on the other side, but they are “Americana” and “Summer Glitz.”
The American Flag shorts are already sold out by the department store buyers, so these are going to be hard to get once they come out next year!
The “Summer Glitz” theme has gorgeous sequined shorts and foiled looking shorts. I like the sequins the most!
They showed these camo pants with zippers on the bottom, which I want so much! They’re perfect for me!
Lastly, we got to shop their showroom and pick out some jeans and outerwear to enjoy! It was madness with 30 of us shuffling back and forth and trying jeans, so I totally forgot to take photos inside! It turns out the best jeans there for me were all patterned, so now I’m thinking of doing a video on how to style patterned pants! These jeans are all from their plus size line, but 2 pairs are available in the regular line too!
Floral Print Skinny, $54 -Available in plus size and regular
Cheetah Skinny, $54 – plus size
Snake Skinny, $54- plus size
Floral Skinny, $54- Available in plus size and regular
Want to win a pair of your own YMI Jeans? Follow me on Instagram, because I’ll be giving away a pair of these jeans this month! Tell me which pair I have is your favorite in the comments so I can find out which I want to giveaway on Instagram! I’m thinking one of the floral prints because they are available to both plus size and regular sizes!
Thank you to YMI and BFVA for a great time!

Wishlist Wednesday: What’s on my Christmas List?
Wishlist Wednesday is back! For now…I mean, who can resist doing a Christmas wishlist? I just randomly put together a little collection of things that I’d love to receive this year. I know I’d use all of these items a lot, so I know it’s worth it. Of course I’d hoard all of the LUSH Holiday items and random makeup, but do I NEED it? Not so much ;). As it’s still a little early, it may need some tweaking…but I love everything on this list.
Comfy Pajamas from Old Navy, only $12! Is it weird to want Christmas pajamas for Christmas?
Blue Yeti Microphone from Amazon, around $90- I hear this is a great voice over microphone. I’d use this for my YouTube videos of course! I don’t know if my Rock Band microphone is working out… 😉
Neroli Clementine Candle from MOR Cosmetics, actually only $18- I got that wrong! I love this scent so much, I’m obsessed with neroli and orange blossom scents right now…
Macaron Trinket Boxes from Urban Outfitters, $10 each- yikes! I want the orange one of course…I think this would be perfect for my elastics for my Invisalign!
Podujeve boots from ALDO, $120- I love the style of this boot, and I have been on a boot kick lately! (pun intended)
Brixton Grace Port infinity scarf from Zappos, $30- I love oxblood and have been hunting for a scarf like this!
Lulu Cable Knit infinity scarf from Nordstrom, $22- I love Nordstrom and I’ve been wanting more scarves- the 2 I have are wearing out! Infinity scarves are my must have.
As for other things that I’d love to receive but I’m not asking for necessarily? A curling iron (love this Cortex one), and the Macbook pro that I’ve failed at saving at (thanks to student loans!)
What’s on your holiday list?
FIDM Beauty Industry Merchandising and Marketing Overview
As you may know I went to FIDM for college and have my degree in Beauty Industry Merchandising and Marketing. I thought I’d do a video explaining some general things about the school and my opinion on it. This Australian Share Prices mainly includes some of my projects, living in dorm apartments, and more. I hope this helps someone, but let me know if you have any questions.
Website saturation and popularity, or how much presence your skyscraper technique on search engines, can be analyzed through the number of pages of the site that are indexed by search engines (saturation) and how many backlinks the site has (popularity).
A few other blog posts I have about FIDM are: Graduation, and FIDM’s Beauty Study Tour recap, which I really should have mentioned in the video, but everything you need is there.
LA Fashion Week: Backstage with Jouer Cosmetics for J. Mendel
I was invited backstage to check out Jouer Cosmetics’ look for J.Mendel’s LA Fashion Week show, the Autumn Party. I met their makeup artist, Julie Morgan, who shared her face chart and spilled on some of the products used to achieve this bare beauty look, inspired by raw/unpolished beauty. She used their new & revolutionary Matte Moisture Tint, using their cream tints in bare and poppy to accentuate the cheeks and lips. The eye look was super simple with some creamy eyeshadows in suede and feather, with a thin liquid shimmer eyeliner in sable on the upper lash line. Check out the gallery below to see behind the scenes backstage along with the finished looks on the runway!
