Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, so I wanted to provide you with some easy nail art ideas that don’t take a lot of time! In the video, learn how to recreate my 3 nail looks: gold glitter, red ombre, and graffiti x’s and o’s!
For all of these nail looks, I started with Orly Bonder as base coat, followed by 2 coats of Jessica Conch Shell, a bubblegum hot pink.
Gold Glitter Nails
I love how the chunky gold glitter flakes look. To get this look, apply a layer of clear nail polish that has a thin consistency. I used NCLA Flawless Top Coat. Then, dump on some glitter! I got mine at a trade show, but Glitties Nail Art Glitter Flakes are pretty similar. Make sure to remove any pieces that aren’t completely on your nail, and press down on the glitter to make sure there are no air pockets.
The Classic Ombré
Getting a seamless ombré is pretty hard, but with this technique and a bit of practice, it becomes a lot easier! First, decide if you want to use a synthetic brush or cosmetic sponge to apply. I think a sponge would be easier for most people. I dampened mine. Then, mix a drop of red nail polish like OPI’s Big Apple Red with a lot of clear nail polish (I used the same NCLA one as before). Brush/sponge it on the bottom 2/3rds of the nail, then mix a bit more red into the polish and repeat on the last 1/3. I also added Big Apple Red by itself to the free edge of my nail and blended it with a sponge. Definitely one of the best ombré’s I’ve done!
Graffiti X’s and O’s
Writing on nails seems so hard when you’re not a nail art expert. But, the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pens solve all of that! I chose the black, and wrote some messy x’s and o’s on my nails. In order to get a pattern, apply xox in one row, then oxo in the next row and repeat! If you mess up, they wipe off with water before applying base coat!
Then, after the nail art is dried, I applied a thick coat of my favorite top coat Seche Vite! This is the best top coat because it dries super fast and doesn’t smudge nail art at all, leaving a gel-like shiny finish! Don’t forget to clean up any sloppy edges with some nail polish remover on q tip or angled brush!
Hope you guys loved this tutorial, and hope your Valentine’s Day is full of love!
