I feel like this year has been the year of baking for me— it seems as though the past few months all I’ve been doing is baking every weekend and I’ve definitely grown a lot as a baker through my monthly experiments! Since I’m posting so much baking content, I thought it’d be nice to share some of my go-to baking supplies that make baking a breeze for me. Plus, since it’s the holiday season, I thought I’d add a few things that are on my holiday wishlist! If you have someone who loves to bake in your life, any of these products will make their life that much easier.
Baking Pans from USA Pan — I have the 9×13, 8×8 and just bought the 8.5×4.5 loaf pan from this brand and I became instantly obsessed! I love the squared off edges for sheet cakes and brownies. They feel so heavy and sturdy, and the corrugated pattern help the sides and bottom release.
As far as measuring goes, I like to use a few methods: a kitchen scale, and of course, liquid measuring cups, and dry measuring cups & spoons! I recently bought the above Magnetic Measuring Cups & Spoons from Williams Sonoma and they’ve been a total game changer. The only strange thing is that there is no 1/3 cup measure, but I’ve had these for a few months and haven’t even needed that size cup, so maybe that was a wise choice. They’re dishwasher safe, and I love how all of the cups and spoons magnetically nest into each other in the perfect little stack! It’s so much more convenient than cups and spoons that are all attached with a ring.
I used to hate lining pans with parchment paper because cutting paper to fit was so annoying and never perfect. So, I bought pre-cut parchment sheets in the sizes I use the most frequently! This makes lining & greasing a baking pan an absolute breeze.
My kitchen wishlist could basically go on for ever. I always want new things to play around with, but here’s what’s at the top of the list.
Storage for ingredients seems *so* boring, but the idea of having all of my dry ingredients like flour, sugar, and brown sugar in matching labeled containers makes me (and Marie Kondo) happy. The OXO Pop Containers are perfect— and they even have a new bakers set which features scoops in the lids for flour & sugar, and a brown sugar keeper that keeps your sugar soft!
Cookbooks! I’ve been dying for a few cookbooks for some cooking & baking inspiration when I’m feeling a little less creative. Plus, they make fun decor too. I’m not the type to buy books for myself for some reason, so I’m always lacking. I’ve been dying to get Weeknight Baking by Michelle Lopez of Hummingbird High— I bake all the time for my coworkers so I’d love some quicker recipes that won’t wreck a whole day of my weekend. And of course, I need every single book Christina Tosi comes out with because I LOVE Milk Bar from their products to their branding. And lastly, Baking at Republique is up there because it’s one of my favorite spots for brunch and pastries in LA— if you’re local, you have to try the everything bagel croissant they have on weekdays. It’s insane.
I also want to ramp up my sprinkle collection with more Fancy Sprinkles (use my link for 10% off!). I first used these sprinkles on my birthday cake and I love the variety, quality, and packaging! I think these sprinkles really make a sheet cake (which some would find boring) super special.
The list could go on forever but I’ll leave it at that. Don’t forget to check out the rest of my Kitchen Must Haves list via my Amazon storefront!
