I was invited backstage to check out Jouer Cosmetics’ look for J.Mendel’s LA Fashion Week show, the Autumn Party. I met their makeup artist, Julie Morgan, who shared her face chart and spilled on some of the products used to achieve this bare beauty look, inspired by raw/unpolished beauty. She used their new & revolutionary Matte Moisture Tint, using their cream tints in bare and poppy to accentuate the cheeks and lips. The eye look was super simple with some creamy eyeshadows in suede and feather, with a thin liquid shimmer eyeliner in sable on the upper lash line. Check out the gallery below to see behind the scenes backstage along with the finished looks on the runway!
Jouer Cosmetics’ LA Media Breakfast
Hey beauties! I feel like I haven’t blogged in forever. 🙁 But, a few weeks ago I went to this great event for Jouer Cosmetics, so I just wanted to post some of my photos from it and give you a sneak peek of what they are launching soon. I have already tried some Jouer products, from my sneak peek blog post– but now I have more to share! I met a lot of awesome bloggers and had a great breakfast learning about their fall collection and launch into Nordstrom Santa Monica.
The event was hosted at Tavern restaurant, which was a beautiful place! The table was strewn with cute place cards that said “Good Morning, Gorgeous,” along with other cute sayings, Jouer mini samples (first picture), and vintage teacups with flowers! Each of the cubicles had a unique design.
Then, as we enjoyed some yummy breakfast, we heard founder and creative director Christina Zilber chat about the brand and their new products for fall/winter. Christina designed Jouer to be a “no makeup artist” line, so anyone can easily use their products. If you don’t know any French, Jouer means “to play,” which is an awesome name, I’d say! Brings me back to me high school French class days…You may already know Jouer because of their Illuminating moisture tint- an award winning product with micro-pearl pigment. But, their new Matte Moisture Tint is revolutionary because it’s light and sheer instead of heavy like other matte foundations. I have the Matte Moisture tint and I really love it, but that’s all I’ll say, since I need to do a full review on it in a separate blog post!
Next, Christina told us about Jouer’s fall Bare Beauty Collection, which includes a nude lip gloss, shadow trio, cheek tint, and their shine removing balm. This kit will retail for $58, which is great for 4 full-sized products. They are also launching a Nordstrom-exclusive pochette, a hot pink suede wristlet that will hold a lip gloss, a smartphone, cards/money, and more…and there is a detachable bracelet! It’s adorable for any holiday party you’ll be going to this season. The pochette retails for $75 and will be available in November at Nordstrom in store and online.
For holiday, they’re launching their own holiday party favor, called Sparkle & Pop! It is inspired by New Years favors for kids. The favor includes 5 holiday goodies: champagne bubbles, a ring, a fortune, a noise maker, and a mini Jouer sample. These will retail for $12, or 4 for $42 for you to gift to all of your New Years Eve party guests! This will be available in November, also!
So that was the event! It was really fun, and I’m super excited to play (pun intended) with Jouer!
Fragrance Friday: Demeter Dragon Fruit Roll on Fragrance Oil
I received this fragrance in my My Glam bag a few months ago and was really excited. I love a deluxe sized fragrance sample! Demeter is a brand that is sold in drugstores, and their specialty is one-note fragrances. I’ve tried their Lilac one and I love it, if only I would have received that one!
Dragon Fruit is just a really fruity fragrance that is pretty powerful. It doesn’t last long though, likely due to the fact that is is drugstore! It’s a pretty nice product so if you can’t afford higher end scents, check Demeter out!
Comparison: Wet n Wild Vamp it up vs. MAC Cyber Lipstick
Recently I reviewed both Wet n Wild Vamp it up and MAC Cyber lipsticks…I thought they were pretty similar after all so I decided I would compare them in a blog post for you guys to see. These are both dark nearly black plum lipsticks that are going to be big for fall and winter.
First, Wet n Wild’s Vamp it up is definitely a cheaper version. At only $1.99 this is a great purchase if you’re afraid you won’t like this dark lip trend.
And here is MAC’s version, Cyber, retailing at $15!
I definitely think that MAC Cyber is a lot less pigmented…it’s a sheerer formula and isn’t matte like Vamp it up. Vamp it up is a lot closer to black, also. I swatched these side by side on my hand to help notice any differences also.
What I draw from this is that Wet n Wild’s is very matte and closer to black. MAC’s Cyber has a more purple tone and is a little bit sheerer with a sheen finish, and costs a lot more. I’d say I personally prefer Vamp it up just because it’s such a good deal! I’m thinking Cyber is a great day lipstick (worn sheer) and then change to Vamp it up at night! What do you think? Which do you prefer?
