This is the same OPI Stranger Tides mani I just posted, but I decided to add this cool mosaic nail effect that I saw on Liquid Jelly. It’s so cool! (Tutorial by Liquid Jelly, hence why I didn’t do one.
NOTD: OPI Stranger Tides
I didn’t have extremely high hopes for this nail polish, but I still thought it’d be in the middle ranks from this collection. Boy, was I wrong. I LOVE THIS NAIL POLISH. I’d say it is my 2nd favorite so far (I think I have 1 left), but my favorite to date is Skull and Glossbones. Stranger Tides is pretty much a flawless application in 2 coats. I am trying a new topcoat and I think that helped it out a lot too because my last one was a streaky mess.
Say it with me….GORGEOUS.
P.S. I have a nail art post coming up tomorrow with this same manicure- It’s a ring finger detail π
Sh*t List #3: Broadway Nails Real Life Brush-On Gel Nail Kit
If you weren’t aware, a few months ago I entered Broadway Nail’s Video Star contest on Facebook. I ended up winning, thanks to my awesome subscribers! I was sent a TON of products to have (although I am giving most away because of the sheer fact I do not NEED all of this) and I was eager to try this product. I am kind of against fake nails….which is ironic that I was sent tons of fake nails. But, since this was just BRUSH ON gel, I decided to try it. I asked Broadway via their Facebook if we could use the gel without the tips. They said yes, so I was off to try it.
The kit comes with 48 tips, a nail file, an orange stick, the brush on gel, the brush on gel ACTIVATOR, and the brush cleaner, which is used with the activator.
I thought this was a lot of steps but I still was eager to try it.
First, you apply 1 coat of the gel, and while still wet, apply the activator. So you have to work with 1 hand or only a few fingers at a time.
Then, you have to apply a second coat of both in the same manner..
I had an “oopsie” during this step, though.
I accidentally dipped the Brush on Gel brush into the Brush on ACTIVATOR’s bottle! Basically it activated the gel on the brush and made it rock hard. So, I had already attempted to stroke it onto my thumb and it left a horrendous mark. I got a different brush from a different polish and kept on going.
At this point, my nails looked beautifully shiny. It then instructs to apply polish as usual, so I applied OPI Steady As She Rose. After 2 coats, it looked beautiful and shiny. However, then I noticed that it was still wet, moving around, etc. up to 24 hours later. (I only wore this for 24 hours) I was able to make marks in the polish and scrape some off, which you can’t do with normal polish when it’s dry.
When I woke up the next morning, it had a weird texture, some of the tips had worn/slipped down, AND I could still press my nail into it and leave a mark.
So, I decided to remove it around 24 hours after I had applied it. It was SO HARD to remove. It was sticky and goopy and just overall sucked, it took me like 30 minutes to remove it completely.
I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone. I really wish it would have worked.
I will probably be throwing this away or swapping it or something because I don’t want it (I will keep the orange stick though because I ran out hehe)
Disclaimer: I received the Broadway Brush On Gel Kit for free, and that is obviously not influencing my opinion!**This post contains one or more products that I have gotten for free– for more information, please read my Disclosure Policy**
NOTD: OPI Planks A Lot & Black Shatter
OPI Skull and Glossbones Swatch
This polish is from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection that launched earlier this month. It’s a really nice light/medium gray. In some lights it’d look more warm toned and some it would look cool. I noticed streaking on my right hand more because it is harder to paint that hand since it is my dominant hand.
This one lives up to it’s name-it’s really glossy!
Also, I attempted to do a cleaner mani and it worked out pretty well. I didn’t even have to do clean up. I just need to slow down π
What do you think of this color?
