If you have a makeup maven in your life, the endless options of what beauty products to get them can be daunting! The holidays are one of my favorite seasons for beauty, because so many great value sets come out. I have a few ideas on this post, but for more ideas go to my Holiday Gift Guide: Beauty Pinterest board.
Subscription Sample Boxes
I’m a subscription box junkie! There are so many great beauty boxes out there to choose from. Here are a few ideas:
Birchbox ($10/month): Birchbox is one of my favorite boxes. They have around 4-5 samples per month, and often give full sized products. You can buy a $30 3-month subscription, a $60 6 month subscription, or 12 months for $110.
Ipsy ($10/month): Ipsy’s Glam bags are another one of my favorites. This is a great option for younger beauty mavens because they include a cute makeup bag each month, and have a lot of actual makeup products, with fewer skin or hair care products that Birchbox has a lot of. They have the same gift prices as Birchbox.
Julep ($20/month): Julep’s Maven program is for any nail guru in your life. For $20 a month, you receive 2 nail polishes and a full sized extra that can be anything from a body butter, to a foot creme.
There are many other boxes, these are just the ones I’ve been subscribed to. Other boxes you may want to check out: GLOSSYBOX and New Beauty Test Tube
Makeup Brushes
Brushes can get pretty expensive, so there are a few great brands out there that I’d recommend for quality brushes at a great price.
Sigma: I’ve used a lot of Sigma’s brushes over the years, and they’re a pretty good brand for the price. I’ve lusted after their sigmax-bristled brushes for a while now, because they are synthetic, soft, and don’t shed. You can’t go wrong with a combo set of face and eye brushes, though!
Real Techniques: Real Techniques brushes have been raved about by makeup artists and loves alike. I’ve yet to try these brushes, but they’re a great drugstore buy!
Value Sets
Sephora is my favorite for value sets. They always have the best sets that they create themselves, and sets from the brands directly!

Palettes
Makeup palettes are a great way to get a bunch of different shadows (or even face or lip products) at a great price.
Pictured: Urban Decay Naked Palette ($50), Stila In The Light Palette ($39), LORAC Eye Cnady Full Face Collection ($59)- Break the palettes up and give them to your 6 besties!, Illamasqua Lipstick Palette (49.50)
I’m particularly eyeing Urban Decay’s Naked Basics Palette ($27)- it would make a great stocking stuffer!
Hope this guide has helped you! What are you buying the beauty guru in your life?
