Easy Valentine’s Day Nail Art: Ombré, Glitter, XO Designs | Video

Easy Valentine's Day Nail Art Glitter Ombre XO Orly Jessica NCLA OPI Sally Hansen Seche Vite

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, so I wanted to provide you with some easy nail art ideas that don’t take a lot of time! In the video, learn how to recreate my 3 nail looks: gold glitter, red ombre, and graffiti x’s and o’s!

For all of these nail looks, I started with Orly Bonder as base coat, followed by 2 coats of Jessica Conch Shell, a bubblegum hot pink.

Gold Glitter Nails

I love how the chunky gold glitter flakes look. To get this look, apply a layer of clear nail polish that has a thin consistency. I used NCLA Flawless Top Coat. Then, dump on some glitter! I got mine at a trade show, but Glitties Nail Art Glitter Flakes are pretty similar. Make sure to remove any pieces that aren’t completely on your nail, and press down on the glitter to make sure there are no air pockets.

The Classic Ombré

Getting a seamless ombré is pretty hard, but with this technique and a bit of practice, it becomes a lot easier! First, decide if you want to use a synthetic brush or cosmetic sponge to apply. I think a sponge would be easier for most people. I dampened mine. Then, mix a drop of red nail polish like OPI’s Big Apple Red with a lot of clear nail polish (I used the same NCLA one as before). Brush/sponge it on the bottom 2/3rds of the nail, then mix a bit more red into the polish and repeat on the last 1/3. I also added Big Apple Red by itself to the free edge of my nail and blended it with a sponge. Definitely one of the best ombré’s I’ve done!

Graffiti X’s and O’s

Writing on nails seems so hard when you’re not a nail art expert. But, the Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Pens solve all of that! I chose the black, and wrote some messy x’s and o’s on my nails. In order to get a pattern, apply xox in one row, then oxo in the next row and repeat! If you mess up, they wipe off with water before applying base coat!

Then, after the nail art is dried, I applied a thick coat of my favorite top coat Seche Vite! This is the best top coat because it dries super fast and doesn’t smudge nail art at all, leaving a gel-like shiny finish! Don’t forget to clean up any sloppy edges with some nail polish remover on q tip or angled brush!

Hope you guys loved this tutorial, and hope your Valentine’s Day is full of love!

International Salon & Spa Expo 2015 Highlights (Glycelene, Cailyn Cosmetics, Caption Nails)

ISSE Long Beach 2015 Caption Polish
ISSE Long Beach 2015- Caption Polish

As a blogger, going to industry trade shows is always a ton of fun for me. I get to see some of my favorite brands in person, and meet with new brands to see the latest beauty releases. ISSE is a salon and spa expo where professionals in the hair, nails, and spa categories go to learn and find new product to purchase. For myself, I was there to check out and see if there are any interesting products that I could possibly review on this blog! I attended ISSE 2013, so you can check out my posts from that. Thankfully this year I did essentially no shopping, which is always a hard thing to resist! I got to hang out with some blogger buds Stephanie, Alyson, Mai, and Romy. Show their blogs some love! Anyways, here’s a peek at a few of the best brands & most exciting products that I scouted.

ISSE Long Beach 2015 Glycelene The Rejuvenation Creme
Glycelene Rejuvenation Creme

Glycelene is a 100% natural, organic, and vegan skin care line created by makeup artist Kim Borio. I hung out at Glycelene’s booth for quite a while and got a demo of quite a few of their products. I was super impressed by their Luxury Face Oil (I need it!), Seatox Mist, and yet-to-be released eye oil.

ISSE Long Beach 2015 Glycelene No. 1 Natural Parfum Oil

I also tried their No. 1 Natural Parfum oil, which is also new. It contains citrus notes such as lemon and neroli, blended with jasmine. It’s inspired by Sorrento, Italy- which was a match made in heaven for me since I stayed there for a weekend when I was studying abroad there. I received a sample size of the Rejuvenation Creme pictured above, and although I’ve only used it once- I’m already a fan! My skin was baby smooth overnight!

ISSE Long Beach 2015 Cailyn Cosmetics Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint

An exciting makeup product I tested was Cailyn Cosmetics’ Pure Lust Extreme Matte Tint. These matte liquid lip colors are all the rage right now, and I think one of the biggest trends I’ve seen to start off 2015- and I’m all over it! They were kind enough to give me a shade to try, so you’ll have to wait to see my thoughts, besides the fact that I want them all & they should release a wider range of colors ASAP!

ISSE Long Beach 2015 Cailyn Cosmetics Cocoon Lip Stain Collection
Cailyn Cosmetics Cocoon Lip Stain

Yet ANOTHER Cailyn Cosmetics product that I found was their new Cocoon Lip Stain line. This product is unlike any other lip stain you’ve ever seen or tried! You apply the stain gel like a mask, wait 10 minutes for it to try, and then peel it off to reveal a gorgeous stain! I’m DYING to get my hands on the orange color (okay, all of them) to do a video demo for you guys.

ISSE Long Beach 2015 Caption Polish 3
Caption Polish in Shizaaam!

New brand Caption Polish promises gel-like shine without the UV lamp. I was in love with their display (first picture in this post), and all of their colors are gorgeous. I had this amazing glitter polish Shizaaam! applied over my nude nails- can you say amazing? This was 1 coat, and it dried lightening fast! Definitely hoping to get my hands on some of these polishes for a review- already impressed!

Those are the main brands that I was blown away by at ISSE, but I checked out a lot more brands, but I don’t want to go on forever so I’ll keep it brief! Hover over the images to see my thoughts & click to enlarge photos.

Overall I was pretty thrilled with ISSE this year. I’m highly considering applying for a press pass for their biggest show- Cosmoprof in Las Vegas this summer! I think it would make for great networking- and who can resist Vegas?

December GlossyBox Unboxing & Review | Video

December 2014 GlossyBox Review Unboxing NUXE Rituals Ciate Toni & Guy Bellapierre Cosmetics
December 2014 GlossyBox

Today I’m really excited to share the December GlossyBox with you guys! I’ve been receiving their monthly box for a few months, but since I was abroad, this is the first month I’ve actually been able to post about on time! I decided to live-unbox it in a YouTube video, so make sure to watch if you want to see my first impressions, and keep reading for my full reviews!

As you can see, I was very impressed with this box. Not only is it very relevant for the winter, it came with almost all full-sized products!

December 2014 GlossyBox Review Unboxing NUXE Rituals Ciate Toni & Guy Bellapierre Cosmetics 2
Rituals Miracle Hand Scrub, Bellápierre Cosmetics Lipstick, Ciaté Mini Paint Pot, Nuxe Masque Crème Fraîche de Beauté, Toni & Guy Leave in Conditioner
  • Rituals Miracle Hand Scrub in Ginseng & Ginkgo Biloba (Full Size, $17): This scrub is packed with exfoliating granules and nourishing oils to soften skin by both sloughing off dead skin cells and moisturizing the skin. I know I get super dry hands in the winter- especially around my fingers, so hopefully this will do the trick!

December 2014 GlossyBox Review Bellapierre Cosmetics Burlesque Lipstick Swatch
    Bellapierre Cosmetics Burlesque Lipstick Swatch
  • Bellápiere Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick in Burlesque (Full Size, $19.99): I’m a big lipstick person, but I was surprised that this was a fuchsia shade instead of a classic holiday red. But, I’m glad that Glossybox strayed from the norm because this color is gorgeous & I love the formula!
  • Ciaté Mini Paint Pot in All Aglow ($10): Everyone loves some sparkle during the holidays, and this gold and copper glitter topcoat is the perfect accent to your nails all year round.
  • NUXE Masque Crème Fraîche de Beauté (Full Size, $32): Masks are fun for everyone, but it’s hard to find a moisturizing mask for the winter. This mask is full of moisturizing ingredients, you don’t even have to wash it off! It contains plant milks and aloe vera scent, with a gorgeous orange blossom scent that I’m addicted to!
  • Toni & Guy Leave In Conditioner (Full Size, $16.99): Leave in conditioner is a great product to use in the winter since your hair can get extra dry at the ends, especially when you combine that with using heat tools! I have short hair now, so I won’t get a ton of use out of this, but I’m going to give it to my sister who has really long hair and will get more use out of it.

Overall I really loved this month’s box. This box was over $95 in value, but the box is only $21 a month! Great deal, right?

Also, if you caught the end of the video, I mentioned Bobbi Brown’s Beauty Emergency Kit which is $53 for $89 worth of product- another great deal if you want to try out Bobbi Brown! I’ll be reviewing the kit soon, but just wanted to give you the heads up today!

France, Switzerland, and Italy Beauty Haul | Video

In the last few weeks I picked up a lot of beauty products in all of the countries I visited. So, since I was busy with traveling and finals, I decided to wait until I came home to film a haul! So, come join the party and see what I got, no spoilers here! :)

PS: So sorry for the bad lighting & coloring in this video. I pre filmed this and then bought new lightbulbs after editing it since I wasn’t satisfied with how it looks! But, hopefully you will like how my future videos will look, because it will be a vast improvement!

London Beauty & Fashion Haul: Primark, New Look, & Boots | Video

A few weekends ago I went to London, and besides seeing all the fab sights I did a little bit of fun shopping that I thought I’d share with you all! I absolutely loved London (I vlogged it, but you won’t see that until I start finally uploading my travel vlogs). I’d consider it my favorite city I’ve visited because there was great shopping, sights, and a fab public transportation system. I only wish I could have stayed longer! That may have been a problem, though, since I did get bed bug bites all over thanks to the hostel I stayed at (but that’s a whole different story).

Anyways, hope you enjoy the haul- I look forward to reviewing the beauty products…and I’m glad to finally be back in action on my blog and YouTube- slowly but surely.
