For the past few months I’ve been following Flower Beauty‘s launch, created by Drew Barrymore. This line is exclusive to Walmart in order to be affordable to everyone. I never go to WalMart, but I just HAD to to grab a few things from this line. I am most excited about the Zoom In Mascara, which has a changing brush! (Check it out on my Vine). Other products I picked up was an orange polish, a concealer, and a lipstick. I think next time I will check out the lip liners and some other shades of lipstick! Let me know what products you’re most interested in, and I’ll be sure to review those first! I think I’ll also do a video review!

Five Favorite LuckyFABB Moments
Are you sick of me talking about LuckyFABB yet? I sure hope not! I haven’t posted in a couple of days because I’ve been brainstorming up new ideas…today I’m just going to share a few of my favorite things from LuckyFABB, which will give you insight into some of the tricks up my sleeve!
1. I adored meeting lovely ladies at LuckyFABB. I love to meet as many people as possible at events, even though I get a little bit shy at first! Meeting these women give me new content to read and possibly friends for future collaborations!
2. I loved all of the speakers, but one of my favorites was Drew Barrymore, who spoke on Day one. She is witty, charming, and knows her beauty. She also seemed to be a big fan of bloggers, which you know I appreciate! I wish I had snagged a VIP ticket to meet her afterwards, loads of other ladies had the chance! In the gift bag we got a few more Flower Beauty products that I can’t wait to review!
When asked about bloggers…
“You have power and you earned it. You took a platform and made it for yourself. It didn’t happen on accident. I like the aspect of everyone sharing!” – Drew Barrymore
3. The best part about LuckyFABB is all of the education from the guest speakers. I covered the nitty gritty in my recaps, but I didn’t talk to much beyond what the speakers said. Those little notes I scrawled down have been super inspiring to me. I’m thinking up new stories, new videos, new everything. As I said prior, OliviaFrescura.com is undergoing a metamorphasis!
4. Going off of what I just said, I am re-branding my blog in every way I can think! I’ve already changed the layout, my description, and my photo, but I am planning on changing how I write my posts, what content I post, and plenty more. I’m so excited to see how these changes effect my blog success!
5. Last but not least, I loved being in such an inspiring environment. I snapped the above pic during a lunch break and loved it so much I had to share it. It’s definitely some home decor inspiration that I’m going to be keeping in mind! What’s inspiring to you?
Now I’m off to plan new posts for you guys! See you soon!
#LuckyFABB West 2013 Day 1 Recap
Today I am recovering from the past 2 long and education packed days at Lucky Magazine’s LuckyFABB conference. I didn’t know what to expect because it was my first time, but it was a blast. It’s likely my favorite event I’ve ever been to, learned the most at, and got the most motivation from. I can’t even put it into words…my blog is now undergoing a metamorphosis. I entered the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills as a caterpillar, and I left feeling like a butterfly! There was a bevy of fabulous brands, panels, and speakers that educated, connected, and appreciated all bloggers, no matter how small.
8:30 AM: I arrived at the SLS hotel feeling anxious! I met Jesica from RyzenberOn in line and caught up with my friend and fellow beauty blogger, Stephanie from Aquaheart, Carly from Lipgloss and Crayons, and Marina Curry from BeautyCon! Phew, now that I’m not alone, I feel better and ready to start! Thankfully I got a seat in the 2nd row.
9:00 AM: This event is Lucky’s EIC Brandon Holley‘s brain child. This is the 2nd year it has come to the west coast, so it’ll be exciting to see how it grows in the future! She really emphasized how she wanted FABB to help bloggers turn blogging into a full-time job.
9:15 AM: The first speaker of the day was Kelly Osbourne. I was elated to hear her thoughts because I have followed her career since her family had “The Osbournes” reality show on MTV. I remember she had gotten a small heart tattoo, so I told my parents that I wanted a small heart tattoo! Now she has made a career for herself in fashion…and boy, does she know her stuff. She’s a hair chameleon, thanks to her mom, Sharon, and her obsession with Vidal Sassoon. Kelly got every single haircut in a book by Vidal Sassoon, which Vidal gave to her mom in the 60s! Kelly’s must-have beauty product is her favorite fragrance, Mûre et Musc Extreme. She says everyone in her family has a signature scent, and that one is hers! The biggest fashion advice from Kelly: “Put your money in your shoes and your handbags and one good blazer and buy everything else vintage or high street.” And if you’re curious about her ultra-cool outfit…She wore a top and skirt from Zara, a Karl Lagerfeld Letterman Jacket, and Stella McCartney shoes (that are visible in yesterday’s post!). I loved her spiked clips in what she calls her “blavender” colored hair. She can really rock it!
10:00 AM: I got a lot of useful information during the “Your Voice, Louder” panel. I was looking forward to seeing Eva Chen speak (I interviewed her for a project at FIDM last year!), and to see Elle and Blair Fowler speak again. I’ve followed their videos for the longest time, even before I made my own! They’ve changed into a lifestyle brand, and it’s interesting to see how they’ve changed since the first time I met them at IMATS in 2009!
“Don’t worry about the numbers- focus on your content” – Eva Chen
On YouTube: “Do consistent videos- have a schedule,” – Elle and Blair
11:30 AM: Lucky held a contest pre-FABB to pick 3 bloggers to pitch themselves to the above panel. The prize? being Lucky’s correspondent at New York Fashion Week! It was great help for me to learn how to talk about myself…which is sometimes the hardest thing! The lucky winner was the fabulous Marie Denee, blogger at The Curvy Fashionista!
12:30 PM: Lunch! Boy was I hungry…I regret not eating the yummy fruit and pastries a few hours ago. I sat down to a huge plate of food and chatted with Stephanie and Jen from My Beauty Bunny for an hour!
1:30 PM: We sat back down after a delicious lunch to hear more blog advice! Emily Schuman, author and blogger at Cupcakes and Cashmere gave a great tip on picking and choosing who to work with- “refrain from saying yes to everything. Sometimes it’s important to say no.” Her 3 tips? Find your vision (and stay authentic to it, be nice, and have fun. Simple!
Geri Hirsch, blogger at Because I’m Addicted and creator of LEAFtv gave similar tips: “Be happy with what you’re doing (or you won’t be successful), have strong people around you, and stay true to your vision.”
2:25 PM: “The Tools You Need To Grow Your Business” panel was a mother lode for ways to increase traffic, and tips for better SEO. I loved what Tina at BagSnob had to say because she is a not only smart, she is witty to boot (or bag?). I learned more about the Fohr Card, a service that brings brands to bloggers more easily, and that I can post widgets of my Pinterest boards on my blog! And the 10,000 hour rule you may not have known: after doing something for 10k hours, you’re an expert! I think between 4 years of YouTube, 2 years of blogging, and 2 years studying at FIDM…I have reached it!
3:45 PM: “Creating a voice of authority” was about making the reader stick around for more than a casual encounter. I was excited to hear from Alle Fister, founder of Bollare PR, which I visited on the FIDM Beauty Study Tour, and Mandana Dayani, the VP of Rachel Zoe, Inc. (and she’s also on her Bravo TV show)! I was even brave enough to ask a question about being authoritative at a young age. Thanks to Mandana and Alle for answering me and giving some great advice!
“Check your ego at the door.” – Mandana Dayani
“The comment section is the best but scariest place!” – Kimberly Tobman
“You can’t be all things to all people” – Gillian Gorman Round
I was especially ecstatic to hear from Drew Barrymore, who recently launched Flower Beauty and is Lucky’s May 2013 cover girl. I’ve already reviewed a few Flower products and can’t wait to try more! Drew is so kind and she really knows her beauty. She isn’t just slapping her name on a package- she went through the entire creative process! Some of her favorites out of Flowers 181 products (and soon to be growing), the khaki shimmer, aubergine, and navy eyeliner for some color play for Fall and Winter!
“I think happiness is a choice. I swear to god happiness is the best makeup.”
Her desert island product that she will not live without? “concealer or you could just kill me now.” She would mash some berries to make blush and burn a wine cork to make kohl liner! She recommends Skincognito from her line, a stick foundation that covers without a pancake face.
I eyed her polish while she was speaking…and it’s the shade I’ve already reviewed! Eye of The Tiger Lily, a neon orange!
5:15 PM: Style Network gave us a sneak peek at Betsey Johnson‘s new reality show (airing May 12!)…WITH Betsey Johnson herself! The show is awesome, her daughter is gorgeous, and seeing her reactions to the show that she had not seen prior was hilarious.
5:45 PM: After the screening was done, there was a brief Q&A with Betsey where she was very frank about her business (including her 2012 bankruptcy). Can you believe she is 70 and still doing cartwheels? I need some of whatever she’s drinking! She spoke about being close with her daughter, Lulu, who lives in the same building as her and is starting her own fashion line (seen on the show). Her best advice she was given? “To quit. If it doesn’t feel good GET OUT!” Betsey’s company is still kicking, which some may not know. Even though her store has shut down, Steve Madden, fellow designer (and her friend) purchased her company!
“People are terrified of not being liked”
“You’re only as good as your last twitters.”
“We get up in the morning and do our best. Nothing else matters”
6:00 PM: Conference wraps…off to go home and prepare for Day 2!
Stay tuned to see my recap of Day 2 tomorrow…which features the massive 18.5 pound LeSportSac gift bag…yes, I weighed it!

Sneak Peek: #LuckyFABB 2013
Hi guys! Reporting here from Lucky Magazine‘s #LuckyFABB today…I was editing photos from yesterday and couldn’t resist posting a few as a teaser! If you’re impatient like I am, check out my live-tweets from the event! Above is actress Drew Barrymore. If you are a beauty junkie like me, you know about her new beauty line at Wal-Mart, Flower Beauty. I’ve already reviewed several products from the brand so I was thrilled to hear her speak. I’ll chat more tomorrow, but Drew is humble, enthusiastic about the blogging community, and super genuine.
Another exciting fashionista that spoke was Kelly Osbourne, who stars on “Fashion Police” with Joan Rivers. It was cool to hear her speak because I really enjoy her style (similar to her gal pal and my ultimate girlcrush, Miley Cyrus) and I’ve followed her career from her family’s reality show back in the day! I remember she got a small heart tattoo and then I told my dad I wanted one too. I think I was 12. Anyways, she is hilarious, has a great knowledge of fashion, and rocks that blue-gray-lavender hair, that I believe she coined “blavender.”
If you’re a fashion follower like I am, I hope you have some sense of who Rachel Zoe is. Zoe is a stylist turned fashion designer (and now a blow-out bar owner) who I’d consider the most famous celebrity stylist at present. Mandana Dayani is the 2nd in command at RZ and spoke during the “Creating a Voice of Authority” panel with other lovely ladies. I enjoyed hearing her story about how she started as an New Jersey Law Offices of Anthony Vecchio, and she gave helpful tips for the question I asked. I was happy to see her as well, as a longtime viewer of “The Rachel Zoe Project” on Bravo.
One of my favorite panels was “Your Voice, Louder,” because I was familiar with the majority of the people involved. I’m a big fan of Eva Chen, former Teen Vogue beauty editor/social media maven, along with Elle and Blair Fowler, who I have heard speak at BeautyCon last year, and have watched their videos for years. I met them back in 2009 and it’s truly amazing what these ladies have done for the YouTube beauty community. They knocked down the wall of hobby-vloggers and really monetized the heck out of the platform, which is pretty inspiring to me as a YouTuber myself.
And last but not least, Betsey Johnson. I can’t even think of one word to describe Betsey, she is so intriguing. She is a fireball of energy at 70 years old. She is very humble about the unfortunate bankruptcy that happened last year, and was very endearing when talking about her grandchildren and daughter, Lulu. We got a sneak preview of her new show on the Style Network, premiering on May 12th. Be sure to tune in…I know I will!
Overall LuckyFABB is really making me inspired. I’m motivated to turn my blog into more than just a hobby. I’m motivated to create different content! I’m just happy. Hope this was fun to read for those of you who were unable to attend. Look out for my upcoming posts that will cover each day of LuckyFABB separately. I have tons of notes to share with you! If you’re impatient, check out Lucky Magazine’s recap of day 1!
Aloxxi’s Pre-#LuckyFABB Event at Stylehaüs
Last night I attended Aloxxi’s event at Stylehaüs at The Grove in LA. I couldn’t miss this event because I love The Grove, first of all, and with my new short hair, I’m always down to try something new! Aloxxi was celebrating the launch of their new styling products that I received to try, so do expect a review in the future!
This event was a pre-party of sorts to Lucky Magazine‘s LuckyFABB West, which is today and tomorrow! (Technically speaking, I am there already when this goes up!). Drew Barrymore is going to be speaking, which I can’t wait for, because I’ve reviewed a few of her new Flower Beauty products on here already! She’s also Lucky’s May 2013 Cover girl…doesn’t she look fabulous with brown hair?
Stylehaüs is an interesting place- it’s a members only boutique! So that means I was extra-special to get a peek inside. It’s quite small, but lots of fashionable pieces are housed inside, like what the chic mannequins above are wearing! I liked some of the jewels they had.
Aloxxi did some dry-styling and color consulting at the event. I had a style done by Angel, who did a great job on my hair. He was uber-fast, too! His inspiration was Brigitte Bardot meets a convertible with the top down. Aloxxi is also apparently from the founder of OPI, according to the pamphlet I received. How cool is that?
Surprisingly, he only used a few bobbypins and small rubberbands to hold my mane together! He teased the heck out of it to get that little “pouf,” which had me a little scared to brush my hair later, but thankfully, it was a breeze to brush through with some detangler!
The products shown above are the same as the ones I have to review. There is a weightless styling gelee, a dry shampoo, a thermal styling spray, a thickening serum, and a restorative hair serum. I’m thrilled to try these- my hair has been having some bad days lately…More on these products to come!
Thanks for having me, Aloxxi, Stylehaus, and Lucky Magazine!xo
