I recently had the opportunity to try out a perfume subscription service called Scentbird. I thought the idea was pretty smart, as I like wearing numerous scents rather than having a signature perfume. For $14.95 a month you get to pick a scent to try or choose one of the pre-selected scents determined by a little quiz. Watch my unboxing of my scent, Yves Saint Laurent Cinema, below!
Yves Saint Laurent Cinema is a somewhat seductively sweet scent. The notes include clementine, almond blossom, cyclamen, jasmine, peony, amaryllis, musk, and vanilla. Although it has a lot of floral notes, it doesn’t overwhelm or smell old lady-ish or powdery. I think it is a sophisticated scent and I enjoy it so far.
Overall I think the service is a great idea. I think there should be more scents to choose from- I think more niche or higher end brands such as Jo Malone or Penhaligon’s would be a great addition and make me want to subscribe myself. I was also a little confused because I didn’t get the traditional black case and velvet pouch that the vials usually come in, but I think that was an isolated error. And, like I mentioned in the video, having a card with information on the scent you’re being sent would be ideal so you don’t have to research that on the internet after the fact. Would you subscribe to a fragrance subscription like Scentbird? Let me know in the comments!
