I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz around the Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation on YouTube, so I just had to try it out! I first received this product in an Influenster box, but it was way too light for me. I tested it out anyway, and found that I really liked the finish. So, I went out and purchased a better shade match and became obsessed with it! My shade is 100 Ivory (the light one was 091 Light Ivory), which is the closest match I’d be able to find. Unfortunately there are only 8 shades of this foundation, so it is only suitable for people with light & medium skin tones.
Upon first use, this instantly reminded me of Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. I’m love my MMT in Linen, but I’m almost out of it! This baby makes for an easy swap. The consistency is near identical! The main difference is the price point, Jouer’s has SPF 15, and Rimmel has twice the amount of shades (but, Jouer has a bit darker of a shade than Rimmel’s darkest). Also, drugstore products tend to have a pinker undertone, but Jouer has great yellow undertones. As you can see in the photo above, I hardly apply any product! It definitely goes a long way. I like to use a BeautyBlender for a flawless finish. I typically use primer & powder, but in this video I wanted to apply and demonstrate it without:
As you can see in this video, it lasted pretty well throughout the day. After 6 hours of wear I wound up with an oily t-zone, which is an easy oil blotting sheet/powder touch up fix. Of course I always use primer & powder when I wear it daily, I just think it’s a better review of the product itself when it’s used all by itself. I’d consider this foundation to be medium-full coverage that is not build-able. If you have any marks that are still visible, use a different concealing product to prevent looking cakey. If I reapply Stay Matte over blemishes or my entire face, I find that it gets a bit cakey, so stick to 1 “coat.”
Overall I think this product packs a lot of punch for the affordable $4.99 price tag. I get a day’s wear, near-perfect coverage, and a darn good color match. I can’t seem to put this product down! If you have oily/combo skin, acne/hyper-pigmentation/scarring, or simply love a matte finish, run to your nearest drugstore to pick this up!
