I got the chance to receive a free POPSUGAR Must Have Box because I’m a member of POPSUGAR Select for bloggers. I’ve seen so many reviews of these amazing boxes so I was so excited to try it out last month. Essentially, this $35 a month box will give you the best in beauty, fashion, and lifestyle that are hand selected and full size. That is why it is a bit more expensive than sample boxes. You can get a 3 month subscription for $95, but if you use code “OCTSELECT” you can get $10 off the 3 month subscription (expires 11/15).
Here is my box opening video where I show off all of the products in the box, along with my first impressions. Keep on reading to see my reviews!
I’ll start with the least valuable thing first. Stitch Fix is a personal styling service where we received a $20 gift card and a waived styling fee. I wanted to check it out, but they don’t even cater to plus sized individuals, I took their questionnaire and it just shooed me away. This reminds me of RocksBox because you get sent items and then have to send back what you don’t want to purchase. Not a fan.
I was so excited to receive The Wet Brush in this box. The pink is for breast cancer awareness, and it’s a fab brush to boot. I bought one almost a year ago and I’m a big fan of it for my thick hair that combs don’t do anything for. Another added bonus of this brush is that it’s flexible bristles are great to brush out dry shampoo without leaving a gray/white cast. You can get these at Sally’s for about $10- great buy! I think I need to get my hands on an orange one next.
I love when POPSUGAR includes jewelry in these boxes. They include Gorjana a lot, but I usually have my eye on the boxes that feature Bauble Bar. This bracelet is a pink friendship bracelet with gold sphere beads on it. Not really my style, but the pink is in the same vein as the Wet Brush because it was for October.
Jane Tran’s Bobby Pins are something that I’ve yet to get to work. They aren’t your typical bobby pin (but this brand has those as well). They are pretty cute, though. I’ll keep trying! I just can’t figure out how to get them in my hair in a cute way.
I was excited to get this duo of Julep polishes, because I really like this brand. I used to be subscribed to their Julep Maven Box, but after a while it just got pretty expensive (and I have plenty of polish). Char is a gorgeous navy blue that looks a bit purple at times, and the top coat is supposed to be like a gel top coat that cures in regular light. I will be showing a swatch & review of this duo next week!
Next there were 2 products from NYX Cosmetics: their Smokey Palette and Liquid Brown Liner. I decided to give these away because I don’t need them at all. Follow me on instagram @oliviafrescura and look for the picture of these items & read the rules on how to enter to win!
The book featured in this box is a cook book, The Can’t Cook Book by Jessica Seinfeld. I need to try a recipe from this book, but I find it hard to use for picky eaters like myself. I flipped through it and didn’t even bookmark a handful of recipes. For example, there are a few chicken recipes I want to do, but they use thighs (dark meat), which I’m not a fan of. I know thighs & breasts cook differently, so I can’t just follow the recipe with chicken breasts. The only recipes I will start with are the snacks, breakfasts, and desserts, which are easy to me.
After talking about all that food, I’m hungry! The last product in the box was a Crispycake from The Crispery. I’m a big fan of sweets (and Rice Krispy Treats), so I was excited to see this in the box, with orange and black sprinkles for Halloween. This was pretty good, but not something I’d purchase for myself because I think I can make them just as well. The price is right, though, at under $4 for a massive size Crispycake. I would have expected them to be more expensive for how big they are.
So that just about does it for the PopSugar Must Have Box. I definitely recommend this box, because you do get more than the $35 value. It’s not something I’d purchase every month, but the 3 month subscription is nice to try it out, or getting one every season would be cool! Thanks POPSUGAR for letting me try one out!
