Wishlist Wednesday: NCLA Nail Polish

I’ve been lusting after NCLA nail lacquer after stumbling upon this tweet by Miley Cyrus, where she was wearing the color “Poolside Party, All Eyes On Me!” Her tips and toes were polished by celebrity manicurist Jenna Hipp. Since I am obsessed with all things orange, and my favorite female celebrity is Miley Cyrus, how could I refuse? I’d definitely keep your eyes out for this brand! I think their collections (2 so far) are very cute and clever. Their photos remind me of Urban Decay magazine advertisements. I also love to follow them on instagram @shopncla. Of course they’re based in LA, being local as well, I so want to visit them and watch the magic happen for myself! Jesse’s Girl/Julie G Nail Polish in Gelato in Venice Swatch

This polish was 2 easy coats, juts like my last swatch of Fairytale. I experienced some bubbling with this one, though, which could just be my own fault! This is a gorgeous spring shade on both fingernails and toenails! I wore it on both and I loved it a lot! I’d definitely recommend these polishes- great quality for $3.99! Jesse’s Girl/Julie G Nail Polish in Fairytale Swatch

Recently Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics launched a line of 27 nail polishes created by YouTube guru JulieG713. I was lucky to snag a few colors at IMATS NY and couldn’t wait to try them. This light purple shade, “Fairytale” is an amazing spring pastel shade. I was impressed by the quality of these drugstore polishes (when paired with higher quality base and top coats). This was an easy 2 coats to apply, with a thinner base coat and a thicker top coat of color to prevent as much streaking as possible. I’m definitely wishing I had picked up a few more! Thankfully, besides being online, these are sold for $3.99 at Rite Aid drugstores.

The X Out™ DIY Dress Blogger Project

Yay, a new series! I thought it would be cute to post 1 product every Wednesday that I’m lusting after. This can range from beauty, to fashion, or anything else that I can think of.

First up this week, is Tarte‘s Lipsurgence in Tangerine. Tarte revealed this on their blog, and it made me extremely giddy, being a huge fan of orange! Just look at this beauty!

I’m hoping it’ll be amazing! Can’t wait to check it out!

This past week I was in New York City to attend IMATS and have a little post-graduation vacation. I love New York, even though it was only my second time there…I wish I could be back there already! I just thought I would do a short post to show some photos from the trip, and at the end, a haul video!

We visited the Statue of Liberty.

We walked through Central Park.

We went to the top of the Empire State Building.

We shopped Soho.

We had some yummy treats. (American Globs at The Big Gay Ice Cream Shop)

We bought some makeup.

And we dressed up.

And there you have it, a short synopsis of New York!

I can’t wait to go back!

The Makeup Show LA 2012 Recap and Pictures

The Makeup Show LA was on March 17th and 18th in Downtown Los Angeles. I was lucky and got a press pass, so I was able to go with my friend Vanessa! Our weekend consisted of Friday’s blogger preview event, The Makeup Show on Saturday, a LUSH event (that I blogged about) on Sunday, and then back to TMS on Sunday! It was definitely a fun time!

On Friday at the Blogger Preview event we got to see (celebrity) makeup artist Pati Dubroff apply makeup to her agent. She had some great advice for aspiring and current makeup artists (even though I am not a part of that group)- I enjoyed watching her. I’m familiar with her work because I know she used to do Miley Cyrus’ makeup a really long time ago, which is how I heard of her. At the event we got an awesome red tote bag with TMS logo on it filled with tons of goodies from the brands at the show. It was a little confusing though because not every bag had everything that was talked about, and I know that some people had missing products in their bags. But it was still an awesome bag.

The Makeup Show as a whole was kind of like IMATS‘ baby. It’s at the California Market Center in the Penthouse with a fabulous view. It’s a lot less congested in there, however, because it is a pro only event. On Saturday we got Minx nails from the Marinello Schools of Beauty booth, because we got a slip in our blogger preview bag. I chose the metallic gold one! After that was done, we were free to shop around at all of the great booths. Some of my favorites to browse were Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, INGLOT, Make Up For Ever, and Bdellium.

I did pick up a few goodies, but those will be saved for future posts so I can show swatches!

1. I just graduated from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a degree in Beauty Industry Merchandising and Marketing.

2. I am the oldest of 4 kids! I have 2 sisters and 1 brother.

1. What is your number one makeup product that you must have at all times? Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten. I wear it pretty much every day.

2. Do you have any pets? What kind and what are their names? I don’t have a pet. When I was little we had a cat named Pepper, though.

3. What is a hobby of yours besides blogging? Photography and baking!

4. If you could go to one place in the world right now where would you go? Probably New York City- I’m going next month for IMATS NY!

5. What is your favorite music band? hmm, I’m not sure! I’m more a fan of individual artists.

6. Who is a big inspiration to you in your life? Probably my parents as well as many leaders of cosmetic brands.

7. Are you nails polished or not polished right now? If polished, what color? They’re not, actually! I’m probably going to do them tonight.

8. Flats or heels? I’m a flip flop or boots girl, always. If not, wedges. I never wear flats because they give me blisters.

9. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink? Sweet Tea!

10. What is a makeup pet peeve of yours? Probably when people have too-nude lips or go overboard on the blush!

What’s your favorite sound? Since I’m a computer nerd, probably the sound of my keyboard or mouse!

LUSH Easter 2012 Collection (Blogger Event)

This past Sunday I went to an event at the LUSH at Universal Citywalk to check out their new Easter products. It was cool to see demos of each product and I definitely want to pick a few up! These products are already on the LUSH website, so check them out here!

LUSH Carrot Top Bubble Bar

Carrot Top Bubble Bar, $7.95: This lemon and buchu scented bubble bar is an awesome product because you can use it for up to 10 baths. The bubble bar actually looks like a carrot. Just hold it by the green corn husk top and swish it around in your bath.

LUSH Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb

Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb, $6.95: The Fluffy Egg Bath Bomb is one of my favorites- it is a sickeningly sweet scent, my favorite! This one smells like the discontinued Candy Fluff dusting powder. It’s described as a vanilla ice cream cone that fell into a cotton candy machine! I love this one, and I definitely have to pick it up.

LUSH The Immaculate Eggception- Pink

The Immaculate Eggception- Pink, $12.95: This is an awesome bath bomb that you can crack in half and has a cute little chick inside! This one is a little expensive, but it can be easily used for at least 3 baths. It is scented with ylang ylang, grapefruit, and vanilla. This was my favorite of the two.

LUSH The Immaculate Eggception-Yellow

The Immaculate Eggception-Yellow, $12.95: This is the same one as the one I just mentioned, but it has a cute rabbit inside instead of a chick. It is scented the same as the pink one, but in my opinion it smells a little bit more citrusy.
