Attention all LA foodies— the LA Food Bowl presented by the Los Angeles Times is back for a month full of over 200 events and special programming! This is an amazing opportunity to hit some of the best restaurants and hear from the most prolific chefs and food experts in LA. There are free events and paid events that get you different experiences including education, food, and drink. I definitely plan on hitting up a few of these events, so I wanted to share a few highlights with you all so you can join in the fun!
Don’t have any Cinco De Mayo plans? After hitting up Las Perlas + Casey’s festivities, check out “Journey throughout the cuisines of Mexico” in conversation with Diane Kennedy, a two time James Beard award winner and guests from various Mexican restaurants in LA. Guests who purchase a $15 ticket can head to Grand Central Market after the discussion for a chance to sample some Mexican food from their vendors.
The Night Market is probably one of the more popular events, because who can resist a food truck festival? Held on May 16-20, the Night Market takes over DTLA’s Grand Park with some of the trendiest food trucks and restaurants. Tickets are only $10 to attend, which is awesome so you don’t have to fight the public for a space in line to eat.
There are tons of Italian events, which all look amazing to me, as I studied abroad there. Check out “Emilia-Romagna: The Foodie Capital of Italy” and “Aperitivo Italiano” events at the Italian Cultural Institute, “A Tutta Pizza” pizza party in Hollywood, etc.
Don’t miss Eat Drink Vegan at the Rose Bowl on May 26th. Get unlimited pours of vegan beer (like Arts District Brewing), kombucha, and purchase some of the best vegan food in LA.
East-siders need to check out Pasadena Restaurant Week & Dinner in South Pasadena (my hometown) at Crossings.
If you’re a cocktail queen like me, check out the Spirits By The Train, Culinary Cocktails with LA’s Beverage Bosses, and Where Mulholland Meets Manuela events!
Don’t miss Yoshihiro Narisawa’s exhibit at Union Station, on display May 1-31st from 4am-1am daily. The exhibition is free to attend and highlights Japanese chef Yoshihiro Narisawa’s
dedication to sustainability, innovative technique and artistry through food.
