One thing I can never resist, although I try to limit makeup spending to a minimum since I have so much product sent to me to try, is the Sephora VIB sale. Thankfully it only happens twice a year, usually around the Holidays & in April, so it doesn’t hurt my wallet too much if I don’t let it. This year, I was racking my brain trying to find *something* to buy with this 15% off coupon, as there’s no way I should let it go to waste – right?
I settled on foundation, as I never have a foundation that truly matches my skin. Everything is too pink, too orange, too dark, or sometimes, even too light. I had no idea what foundation to get, and thought I would get something like Estée Lauder Double Wear, or the new Clinique Beyond Perfecting one that I hear influencers like Jackie Aina raving about. But, my roommate told me she recently got the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation, which apparently a lot of influencers & instagrammers alike use too. So, when the sale started I made my way to Sephora to get matched + get a sample to try out…because no way was I paying $47 for a foundation that doesn’t match me. I figured the Sephora girls would match me incorrectly as a cool pink undertone, and I was right. They matched me in 110 C, and I got a sample and found that it had amazing coverage and lasting power, it just wasn’t my shade. I took a leap and put a shade down in their neutral undertone (100 N) on hold & picked it up on the last day of the sale, fingers crossed that it matched.
The next day I put it to work- and it matched perfectly. With 2 layers with a beauty blender (so maybe 1 layer with a brush), you get the most perfect full coverage, matte finish. I will say it does highlight pores, dry spots, and pimples, so I need to find something to fill my pores up. However, rather than saying I have the oiliest skin that just eats up foundation…I should have just been wearing different foundation…because this one lasts! I honestly thought no foundation would hold up on me, I was just wearing the wrong ones. I’m only on day 2 of this foundation and I really love it. If you need full coverage & a matte foundation because you’re a greaseball like me, try this one and your life will be CHANGED.
I also picked up two 100 point perks, which is really rare…because I typically find that Sephora’s perks suck quite frankly. I know more than one person (myself included) that almost never uses their points & just rack them up throughout the years. They had BECCA’s pressed highlighter in Opal, which I’ve wanted, but hesitated on buying because I know it’s too dark for me (but I wanted it because Jackie Aina loves it…I’m sensing a trend). So, I snapped that up along with Atelier Cologne’s Orange Sanguine fragrance. I liked how it was a mini spray…although it’s not my ideal scent, I’ve been meaning to have a mini fragrance in my bag that I can use in a bind. Mostly whenever I’m on public transportation and there’s someone that smells like they’ve never seen deodorant in their life is on the bus or train…which is basically every day.
Anyways…that’s my fun little haul that I’m pretty satisfied with – I ought to do a review of the foundation soon, I just need to take some good photos of myself wearing the foundation & try applying it with a few more different things and I’ll report back!
