Upon hearing that bareMinerals was releasing a liquid foundation, I knew I had to try it! The bareMinerals bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation is finally here and it is fabulous! This unique foundation is a skincare serum and mineral foundation in one. It has no parabens, silicone, fragrance, water, or oil. It contains lilac stem cells to provide antioxidant protection along with the broad spectrum SPF 20, which is probably the highest SPF I’ve seen in a foundation. I wanted to do both a video review and demo so you could really see this product in action!:
I love that this foundation has buildable coverage. For someone with a lot of acne scarring, I was impressed at how much this thin & liquidy serum covered. I appreciate that bareMinerals has this foundation in 20 different shades- it definitely makes it a good choice for a plethora of skin tones.
My shade is 03 Bare Linen, which is a light yellow toned color. I find that it’s maybe a touch too dark for me, but the first 2 shades wouldn’t work for me. I feel like this foundation gets a bit lighter after wearing it for a little while, so then it matches my skin pretty perfectly. I love how it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a ton of makeup, but it covers everything! When you apply this foundation, it has a very buildable coverage. 2 drops is light coverage, 4 is medium, and 6 is full. I find that for my face 6 isn’t quite full, I need 10 to get my ideal coverage while using this brush!
I will say that the only con to me is the Perfecting Face Brush. It’s not a bad brush, it applies the foundation beautifully, but I can get similar results with a beauty blender or a flat top kabuki brush. I feel like when I apply droplets they kind of sink into the brush hairs, so I have to try harder to apply. I don’t think I would have bought the brush, but I like it because it’s synthetic, and when I use it I don’t get any brush strokes! The foundation just melts into your skin. While applying and wearing through the day, there is no cakeyness, foundation separation, or anything!
I think the main concern for me when I use foundation, is how long it will last and if it will make me oily. As this serum foundation has an oily appearance when you first apply it, once you add powder it is fine. It definitely gives a youthful and dewy complexion, which means if you are very oily you may have issues around your t-zone. I find that I get a bit dewy, but nothing too bad. The finish still looks natural, and not like a greaseball. Also, because I have acne, I can break out from some products. I didn’t find that I break out from this foundation at all, but the primer, bareMinerals Prime Time original, might be breaking me out.
I’ve been using this foundation non stop! I think it’s a great addition to the bareMinerals family. I definitely think this foundation is worth a shot. I love how it looks on my skin, and the price is awesome as well. Find the bareSkin foundation at Sephora or bareMinerals boutiques for $29, the Perfecting Face Brush can be purchase for $28! I think the foundation is the perfect price, it is a great deal for a high end product.
I have reviewed the bareMinerals Ready SPF 20 Powder Foundation as well, I love that one for lazy days where I want to sleep in instead of applying makeup!
