I have struggled with acne ever since I was a tween, and after going to the dermatologist in high school I had it under control for a few years. Lately it has been acting up and I’ve been getting tons of breakouts, so I knew something had to change in my skincare routine. I switched back to some old favorites and my skin is thanking me, so I decided to show you all what products I’m using! I follow a few steps to perfect my skin:
Remove Makeup: One of the best things you can do for your skin at night is removing your makeup. If you don’t have time to wash your face, at least wipe your makeup off with some makeup remover. In this video I’m using the Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Facial Towelettes, but my favorite wipes are Simple’s Cleansing Facial Wipes. If you have dry skin, you may find it beneficial to use a cleanse off oil to remove your makeup. I love DHC Deep Cleansing Oil because it’s very moisturizing, but doesn’t leave a greasy residue.
Exfoliate: It’s important to exfoliate your skin weekly to get rid of any dead skin cells that are hanging around. You can use a scrub with granules in it, or a product like ORG’s Mineral Face Peel, which is a liquid you spray on. I love this peel because it is gentle on skin, but you actually can see the dead skin cells that you’re removing! They also have one for the body, which I haven’t tried, but I’m sure it’s awesome as well.
Cleanse: Cleansing is pretty much a given, especially for oily skin. I’ve been using PanOxyl, a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash that is perfect for oily and acne prone skin. And bonus? It only costs around $12.99 at drugstores! This is also a generic version of a face wash I was prescribed years ago! No wonder why it works so well for me!
Spot Treat: Spot treating is a must-have to get rid of any acne you may have. I use a combination of two product for when my skin is really bad, but you can easily just use one. I use Tea Tree Oil, which is a natural essential oil that has antibacterial properties to help get rid of acne. Then, I use a prescribed spot treatment called Aczone. This combo gets rid of pimples fast!
Moisturize: After applying all of those treatments that will potentially dry your skin out, it’s important to add a moisturizer to balance it out. Lately I’ve been using Pacifica’s Dreamy Youth Cream. This moisturizer can be used at day or night and it isn’t too heavy, which I like. It smells like roses, which isn’t my scent of choice, but it doesn’t bother me. Don’t forget to moisturize under your eyes! I’ve been using Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment because I received it at an event, and it’s by far the most moisturizing eye cream I’ve used!
And there you have it…5 steps to flawless skin! Hope this helped you all out, and I will make sure to keep you updated with my skin!
