Whenever I caught wind that Nivea was launching Lip Butters, I knew I had to have them. Nivea makes my must-have lip balm, A Kiss of Smoothness, so I knew these would be great. I picked 2 of the scents, Raspberry Rosé Kiss and Vanilla Macadamia Kiss. I got the Raspberry one first, and fell in love. The scent of it is to die for- and it is strong. After we had a bit of a romance, I picked up Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss just so I could do a more thorough review for a video! There are 2 others that I skipped: smooth kiss (unscented) and caramel cream kiss, which just doesn’t sound appealing to me.
Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss smells delicious– like frosting or marshmallows. I don’t get much nuttiness out of the scent, thankfully. I have 2 bones to pick with Nivea over these butters, though. First, the main ingredient in these is petrolatum, which is petroleum jelly. I try to stay away from petroleum-derived products because of their tendency to break skin out (think mineral oil in foundations). I thankfully haven’t had issues around the lips due to this, but I think it’s important to mention! The second ingredient I have a problem with is titanium dioxide. I have no problem with this ingredient, but in this formula I do, because it makes the lip balm opaque. I don’t want an opaque lip balm, especially in pale pink and white colors. I have stuck to exclusively using these at night because of that! These are decent balms, but they will never top my Kiss of Smoothness.
Have you tried these out yet? What do you think?
